Channeling the Milky Way Today

That beloved icy dot called Pluto is in the news this week thanks to photos from the space probe New Horizons. Seems only fitting to channel milky way imagery in the studio today. Galaxy Collection

I'm excited to share a sneak peek at one of my newest collections—The Galaxy Collection. My inspiration for this collection is the intricate patterns in nature and art including ice formations, marble patterns, trees, plant cells, and paint splatters. Pattern Sketchbook: Sun Bleached Floral

I live in the high desert at the base of a mountain in Colorado. At an elevation approaching 8,000 feet, the air is thin in my little community and because of this I think you really do feel closer to the heavens. The sun is intense at this altitude and the landscape reflects this solar bleaching. The flowers in the patterns featured above were inspired by this lovely place.   The sun is shining every day—except when it's snowing. My textile designs in this animated gif remind me to enjoy the warm days because snow season is just around the corner.
