Spotlight on New Floral Design: Astrid

Astrid Floral by textile designer Chris Olson

Astrid Floral by textile designer Chris Olson

This dreamy feminine floral speaks to my Scandinavian roots. It’s called Astrid and means beautiful goddess in Swedish.

The floral pattern features my photographs with digital manipulations to create a feminine modern design. The print is influenced by the hyper real nature trend, artistic abstraction, blurred painterly effects, and textured illusion. The ethereal color palette has an energy well suited for active wear with a blush hues, warm orange, and violet hues. I have always been inspired by the colors found in nature. In the Astrid pattern the colors are heightened with a saturated, synthetic quality. The dark background complements the brightness and floating quality of the floral and addis to the overall dramatic effect.

My patterns are available for purchase on my website. Access to my online client portfolio is available to manufacturers, licensees, art directors, etc.
