Chris Olson

Hello!

My name is Chris Olson and my studio is in Colorado. I am a licensed illustrator and designer specializing in original artwork and surface pattern designs for stationery, textiles, apparel and home furnishings. There are lots of different ways in which I collaborate on projects and you can view my services and deliverables here.

I also partner with brands to help them develop a marketing strategy using design and illustration in social media, webinars, and events. Projects include custom-branded content through design, writing, and editorial direction.

The design studio ChrisCocoMedia was founded by me and focuses on illustration, design, and content marketing. The studio's specialties include surface pattern design and custom illustrations--hand drawn art and vector illustrations. I also offer content marketing services.

Clients

My art has been featured on Papyrus Greeting Cards and Stationery as notecards. I have a selection of surface pattern designs and graphic prints available at Pattern Observer Studio and Hunt + Gather Studio. Blurb recently hired me to create a childrens’ gratitude journal that will be sold on their website. My surface patterns were featured in UPPERCASE magazine Surface Pattern Design Guide.

Awards

In a recent blog post I shared my latest award. I was thrilled and honored to receive the Pattern Observer Award of Excellence. Pattern Observer's goal is to support, inspire and promote both emerging and established designers as they grow their businesses and careers. According to Pattern Observer: "We would like to recognize these designers who have taken our series of workshops and exceeded our expectations with the Pattern Observer “Award of Excellence.” Designers who have earned our “Award of Excellence” have proven themselves to be talented artists, trustworthy partners and emerging leaders in our industry. They have experience in the apparel, home decor and quilting markets and are working with clients around the globe. Interested pattern buyers should reach out to each designer through their website."

Chris was delighted to be included with the amazing artists featured in UPPERCASE Surface Pattern Design Guide. You can read more about it here.

Sweet daisies are one of my favorites in the garden and a must-have flower in vintage-influenced prints for S/S 19. This new design is straight from my sketchbook for a hand drawn appeal. The style features a loosely painted g ouache floral.

I love living in the mountains. And I love to ski. Before I had kids and a mortgage to pay, I was a professional ski racing instructor. Now I just ski for for the pure joy of being on a mountain and carving up the slopes. This new Boho Bryony collection was inspired by my ski bum mum adventures right here in Colorado.
